Program Materials
OpenSTEM Pty Ltd understands that schools and families have financial constraints. We sell resources we produce, at a reasonable price. The terms laid out here enable us to continue this work.
Instruction Manuals, Code and Course Materials will always clearly display their licensing – that is, whether and in what scope you are allowed to print/copy the digital and/or physical documents, and individual pages will have a branded footer or watermark which must be retained. Please refer to the specific terms of the material(s) you work with. General information:
- Physical resources such as the world map are copyright by the OpenSTEM Pty Ltd and may not be reproduced. Photos and other extracts from resources should be appropriately attributed.
- Our base resource and teacher/student PDFs may be printed and copied within the scope of your purchase or subscription. For an individual purchase or under a family or single teacher subscription, the materials may only be used within that unit (family, classroom). For department or school-wide subscriptions, the materials are purchased for each class and year level, and are then licensed for use within that scope (specific department or school).
- Our base resource and teacher/student PDFs also have a year stamp in their footer; you are allowed to continue to use them beyond that year (like an older print edition of a book), but updating to the very latest version ensures that you provide your students with the most current information. We recommend updating annually.
Software we use and recommend is all Open Source, this means that again you can copy it within your organisation as well as give it to students and parents for use at home. In fact, we encourage this! Products change, but when someone learns a true skill, it can be applied to any brand or version. After all, you learn how to drive a car, not specifically how to operate, for instance, a Holden Astra 2008!
Where we make or build physical things, be it ginger-beer or a robot, the full plans are available: you are allowed to run projects all on your own, or just get kits from us, provided you attribute our work noting “OpenSTEM®” with a click-able link where applicable (but not in any way that suggests that we endorse you or your use of the work). Naturally, bringing us in adds our expertise to your own, saving time and providing additional insights. Often, it’s good for kids to hear things from “someone in the field”.

We purchased the soldering kit after our son did the Mirobot workshops at school. He loved the idea of soldering…
