The Sugar Industry has been an important part of the Queensland economy since the mid-19^th century. Examining the history of this industry covers several aspects of colonial history, including development of the colony of Queensland, migration of different groups to Australia, industrialisation and sustainability.

This resource is aimed at students in Years 5 and 6 and covers issues of Australian colonial history aligned with the Australian Curriculum for History, Geography and HASS.
