Description
Charles Sturt explored the interior of Australia in the 1820s and the 1840s. He was searching for evidence of a great inland sea, which was thought to be present in the centre of the continent. Sturt’s tribulations experienced during his travels adversely affected his health and he died in England, still hoping to return to Australia.
