Resource: Australia and the Boer War

Part of our Federation series, this resource looks at the relationship between the growing ‘Australian’ identity and the Boer War.

Australia sent troops first from the separate colonies, and then from the brand new Federated Australia. This resource provides a brief overview of the Boer War, and the part played by Australians, including Breaker Morant and Peter Handcock. The idea of an ‘Australian’ identity is also discussed.

This resource is designed to complement the Year 5 and 6 Australian History curriculum.
