Description
Hernando de Soto was part of the Spanish administration in the Caribbean, being made Governor of Cuba in 1536. In 1539 he handed over his position as governor to his wife and explored the North American mainland, becoming the first European to cross the Mississippi River. Unfortunately he died soon after.
This resource explores his life and achievements and is aligned with Year 5 Australian Curriculum History, Geography and HASS.
