One of the most influential Medieval explorers, Ibn Battuta not only recorded an enormous amount of information on the huge numbers of countries, areas and regions which he visited in the course of his travels, but he also provided an extremely valuable viewpoint on these places from a perspective outside of Europe. Ibn Battuta was a Berber from North Africa and travelled extensively throughout the Islamic World, including right across Asia and into China.
