Description

Aimed at our youngest students, this set of resources complements the Children In The Past resource by presenting characters from Ancient Australia, Egypt, Rome, China, Mexico and Southern Africa for students to use in simple role-play activities.

People In The Past – A Play

A few lines of text are provided underneath a colourful picture of each character. The text is written in the first person, so as to provide lines for a play, as well as basic literacy. This resource can be used as the basis for a class play – with students dressed up and learning their lines, or it could be used as the basis for role play, or for students to hold up each picture and talk in class about the chosen character.

People In The Past – Dress Ups

This resource is aimed at teachers and provides suggestions and explanations of costumes for the characters. Those teachers wishing to use the main resource as a class play or dress up activity will find suggestions on how to make simple costumes here.

People In The Past – Props

This resource is aimed at teachers and provides suggestions and explanations of equipment for the characters. Templates are provided for cut outs of headdresses, necklaces, spearheads etc. These can be copied, coloured in by students and cut out, either in paper or cardboard.

This resource aligns with Foundation (Prep) History, Geography and HASS.
