Description
This resource provides an overview of the history of the colony of South Australia, from its carefully planned beginnings in the 1830s to Federation.
An overview of Aboriginal history in the area is provided, with a description of the Maria shipwreck incident. The progressive aspects of the planned colony are discussed, as well as the impact of settlers and squatters. Contributions made by the colony to the development of Australia on the broader scale are also addressed.
Aimed primarily at the Year 5 Australian History curriculum, this resource complements other Australian History and Geography resources for Years 4, 5 and 6.
