Description
This resource provides an overview of the history of the colony of Victoria.
The history of the Aboriginal people of Victoria is covered briefly, especially in the context of the convict William Buckley. European exploration, and Batman’s Treaty are described, before the European settlement of Victoria is discussed. The Gold Rush, so significant in the development of the colony and its economy, is described, as are the events surrounding the Eureka stockade. A section on Chinese immigration is included.
Aimed primarily at the Year 5 Australian History curriculum, this resource complements other Australian History and Geography resources for Years 4, 5 and 6.
