Description

In 1600 nine survivors of a fleet of 5 ships which had left the Netherlands almost 2 years before to sail into the Pacific Ocean by sailing south of South America, landed on the coast of Japan. William Adams was one of those survivors and so impressed the local Japanese daimyo (a powerful Shogun), that he became a part of the Japanese court and the liaison with European traders. This resource examines the life and exploits of William Adams, who died in Japan in 1620 having been given honours and property.
