Description

This resource traces the history of Chinese immigrants to Australia, from the First Fleet to the modern era. Special areas of focus are the gold rush of the 19^th century and the effects of the White Australia policy. Racism and violence against Chinese people is also mentioned. As migrants from Asia, Chinese people have a long history with Australia, and their contribution to the Australian economy and culture is examined.
