Description

The ancestor of horses was found 50 million years ago in North America and horses were in the continent for several million years. However, they became extinct in North America at the end of the Ice Age and were only re-introduced by Columbus and the Spanish in the 15th and 16th centuries. They were quickly adopted by indigenous people, especially on the mainland of North America.
