Description
In recent decades it has been recognised that Aboriginal people have a considerable history in Australia, as well as traditional rights and customs in association with the land. Specific groups have connections to specific areas of land, and these are now being recognised in Australian law. The colonial declaration of ‘terra nullius‘ has been challenged and found to be inaccurate. This resource explains the history of the native title debate, what native title means and what the current situation in Australia is like.
The resource aligns with Year 5 and 6 Australian Curriculum History, Geography, Civics and Citizenship and HASS.
