This resource provides an overview of the history of the colony of Western Australia, from the early explorations by the Dutch to Federation.
The establishment of the Swan River Colony, and its development into the colony of Western Australia, is given in the context of early settlement, convicts and the gold rush. Aboriginal resistance to European settlement is also briefly mentioned.
Aimed primarily at the Year 5 Australian History curriculum, this resource complements other Australian History and Geography resources for Years 4, 5 and 6.
