Activity: Show of Hands

Description

This resource is designed to complement the Running A Class Election activity and gives a brief historical overview of voting by a show of hands, as well as a quick activity developed to encourage students to think about the advantages and disadvantages of this method of voting. Students are also encouraged to think about why this method was abandoned for formal elections by most countries.

This resource aligns with Year 4, 5 and 6 Australian Curriculum History, Civics and Citizenship and HASS.
