This resource explores the use of the word ‘massacre’ to describe conflict in 19th century Australia and examines a few incidents in some detail.
The 19th century was not without violence in Australia. There was conflict over land and resources between many different groups – Aboriginal people and settlers, convicts and settlers and even between different Aboriginal groups.
This resource is designed to complement the Year 4, 5 and 6 Australian History and Geography curricula.
