Imagine you are a Neolithic farmer living in one of the first small villages in the world about 10,000 years ago and farming some of the first crops and animals.
Overall things are pretty good; good enough that you might decide to experiment with becoming a potter or a brick-maker and not just farming all the time. But sometimes it’s still a struggle to feed your family and when times are bad everyone is starving.
The secret to everyone staying healthy and happy is to find ways for people in the village to work together to make sure everyone has what they need.
