Description
The Dutch East India Company played a critical role in putting the continent of Australia on European maps. It was Dutch East India Company explorers that first mapped parts of the Australian coastline. The reasons for this are examined in this resource.
Furthermore, the Dutch East India Company and its history provide an excellent case study of the world’s first multi-national corporation and how the financial decisions made affected people and environments around the world, most particularly in Europe and Asia.
This resource adds to our understanding of the 15th to 18th centuries, whilst also addressing aspects of the Economics and Business curriculum, allowing students to analyse this historical example.
