Year 4 Unit 1 “Exploring Digital”
Minimum time requirement: Integrated with English/Maths curricula.

In this unit we start with a quick recap on computers and other digital devices, their main parts, keyboard and mouse usage – ensuring there are no knowledge/skill gaps from Prep-level up.

We then start exploring categories and algorithms, based on the English curriculum Procedures.
Finally students learn about Files and Folders, and apply these essential insights when using a Word Processor and a Spreadsheet.

Optionally, students start exploring how everything in a computer is made up of numbers.

Multi-Year Level Integration

This Year 4 Unit can be used alongside (or replaced by) the Year 5 Unit “Algorithms to ASCII”.
